Internet Files - Change File Permissions

Introduction

The Internet File Properties dialog gives you information regarding a file on your server. This information includes the size of the file, and the permissions assigned to the file.

File Permissions are a way of defining who can read (that is view) and/or write to your file. These file permissions are usually set to allow other people (group) to read (but not write to) your file. In most cases you will never have to touch these settings.

Display the Internet File Properties Dialog.

  1. On the View menu, select the Resource Manager submenu.

  2. In the Resource Manager submenu, select Internet Files.

  3. Open an Internet Connection by clicking on one of the server icons.

  4. Right-click on an Internet file and select Properties.

  5. You can then modify file permissions by using either the checkboxes to set permissions for the Owner, Group and Other user groups, or alternatively you can type a three-digit permission value (usually used in the UNIX CHMOD command) in the text field provided.
